Who We Are
Our Story
Everest Cricket Club Ry was founded in late 2013 by a group of
passionate Nepalese cricket lovers living in Finland. Brought together by a shared love
of the game and a desire to keep the spirit of cricket alive far from home, a handful of
friends came together and took the formal step of registering under the
Finnish Cricket Association (FCA).
The club's name carries deep meaning — Everest 8848 is a nod to
Mount Everest at 8,848 metres, the world's highest peak and a symbol of
Nepalese national pride. Just as Everest stands tall above all others, the club was
founded with the ambition to climb, grow, and make a mark on Finnish cricket. The name
lives on in our website, cric8848.com.

How It Began
A Group of Friends & a Cricket Ball
It started simply — a group of Nepalese friends living in Finland, missing the game
they grew up watching and playing back home. Informal games in parks turned into the
realisation that they wanted something more permanent: a proper club, a team, a home
for cricket in their adopted country.
In late 2013, the founding members formally registered the club with the
Finnish Patent and Registration Office (PRH) as a
rekisteröity yhdistys (registered association) and affiliated with the
Finnish Cricket Association. In their very first season in
2014, Everest 8848 competed in the FCA SM T20 League,
joining a growing cricketing community that now spans the length of Finland.

The Journey So Far
Late 2013
A group of Nepalese friends register Everest Cricket Club Ry under the Finnish Cricket Association — born out of love for cricket and community.
2014
Everest 8848 plays their first competitive season in the FCA SM T20 League, taking on established clubs like Turku CC and Vantaa CC.
2015
Cric8848.com is launched — a dedicated website to cover club news, FCA league fixtures, standings, and results, named after the club's iconic 8848 identity.
2016
The club helps establish the SevenZer League — a fast-format 7-over, 7-player community cricket tournament that quickly becomes one of Finland's most popular summer events.
2016 – 2024
SevenZer runs annually, growing year on year. Cric8848.com grows alongside it, covering multiple clubs, tournaments, and cricket stories from across Finland.
2025
7ZER 2025 — "A Decade of Thrills". The tournament celebrates 10 years with its biggest edition yet. Malmi Supernova lift the trophy in a memorable final.
2026
7ZER Cricket 2026 moves to Ala-Malmi Sports Park, Helsinki, with a record 13 teams. The club continues to grow, connect communities, and celebrate cricket in Finland.
2026
9ML (Nine Men's League) is successfully launched — a brand-new Nepali cricket tournament organised by Everest Cricket Club Ry, celebrating community, culture, and cricket.
